3D technology and Materiality
We seek to possess nature. As we have become separated from primordial nature, we have pursued it with an instinct from the past. Beyond the direct acts of tending gardens and growing plants in pots, decorations and patterns that mimic nature hint at this long-standing desire. Captured Nature utilizes 3D scanning technology to capture nature in a different way. While a camera records a two-dimensional moment in time, a 3D scanner can document natural phenomena in three dimensions. These scanned forms are then reproduced through 3D printing technology, bringing them closer to our daily lives. Although nature recreated through 3D technology may appear to be made of highly artificial materials, it is, in fact, crafted from natural-origin materials, illustrating the cycle between nature and humanity.
