The title IKARE is a word inspired by the IKEA effect. IKEA, a global company representing fast furniture, symbolizes modern consumer society. While it promotes the democratization of consumption by producing products that are ※affordable and accessible to everyone,§ it also leads to products that are easily disposable.
The IKEA effect is a psychological concept encompassing two opposing ideas. Although IKEA's products are made from inexpensive materials, the act of assembling them oneself leads users to assign greater value to them. This phenomenon arises from the newly formed relationship between objects and their users.
IKARE evokes the name IKEA, while simultaneously twisting its meaning to convey 'I Care' implying a deeper concern and appreciation. Designed in the spirit of IKEA's flat-pack system, the furniture is crafted to be easily assembled and disassembled. However, instead of cheap plywood, it is made from solid wood, reinforcing its significance and durability.
